Reading At Home

Reading

Every day your child will come home with something to read you. This is normally a reader they have read at school, but can also be a library book, poem, an independently chosen book or a story they have written and published.

You can help your child by encouraging them to read often and for pleasure. Choosing their own books from the public library can be a great way to extend their reading interests.

Reading Sight Words

You can find your child's list at the bottom of this page.

Magenta (Levels 1-2)

Red (Levels 3-5)

Yellow (Levels 6-8)

Blue (Levels 9-11)

Green (Levels 12-14)

Orange (Levels 15-16)

Once children move past orange level, the focus is on fluency, decoding and comprehension rather than sight word recognition.
